The Mill Girls’ summer travels
I was invited to moderate a panel at Ochre Fest on July 5, 2026 called “Split Seams: Rending the Standard Narratives.” Also shown are Leahdawn Helena, author of Stolen Sisters, Delores V. Mullings, author of Black Girl in the Ring and Michelle T. Clemens, author of The Girls from Belvedere
We had a lovely weekend in Ochre Pit Cove, and a thoughtful discussion about whose stories we choose to tell.

I gave a presentation at the Carbonear Public Library, hometown of Mill Girl Ella Powell, on June 13, 2026. Thanks to librarian Tracey Vaughan-Evans for inviting me!

Black Harbour Presentations

I am available to do presentations and talks on The Mill Girls for your organization or group, either in person or virtually.
Xaiver Michael Campbell and I have done presentations on our book Black Harbour, at the Association for New Canadians Diversity Summit in St. John’s, youth summits and schools, and book clubs.
As a journalist, I do seminars in interviewing and audio collecting techniques for student and community groups, and talks on my various projects. I love helping storytellers do their best work.
Get in touch and we’ll sort something out!
