I’m a writer, storyteller, and international award-winning radio documentary producer.
My latest book is The Mill Girls: The Newfoundland Women who Transformed Canada’s Industrial Heartland (Boulder Books, 2025).
I’m also the co-author, with Xaiver Michael Campbell, of Black Harbour: Slavery and the Forgotten Histories of Black People in Newfoundland and Labrador (BoulderBooks, 2023).

Also, I love to knit, and I don’t let a day pass by without putting some stitches on the needles. My knitted accessories are available at Quidi Vidi Village Artisan Studios, and through this website. I am especially interested how knitting and textiles create community and tell stories.
I was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador, where I live with my family today. I have a Bachelor of Music from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Arts in Journalism from Western University in London, Ontario. When I’m not writing, telling stories or knitting, I’m an avid runner.
